In 2017 our Year 8 Cats made it to the grand final, but couldn’t quite get over the line.
In 2018 it was a different story.
It was Year 8 Cats vs Scarborough Sea Eagles at 1.00pm at Seacrest Park and the boys were well prepared. Plenty of our members were down at Seacrest to cheer on the boys (including some from the Hamersley Carine Amateur Football Club) and the excitement was building - could they do it in 2018?
With a fabulous banner created, the boys ran through and then it was familiar territory, with the national anthem and the crowd cheering. At quarter time it was all Carine with a strong breeze coming in, 2.1-13 to nil. At half time it was 3.2-20 to 2.0-6 and coach Brett Wills took the boys into the shade for his motivating pep talk. At three quarter time, the Cats had kept Scarborough to just one point and Carine was dominating with the breeze, 7.3-45 to 1.1-7. The final score was 8.5-53 to 3.1-19. Congratulations to Brett Wills and the Year 8 Cats.
