Auskick (Pre-Primary to Year 2)

What is Auskick?

The NAB AFL Auskick program makes learning to play AFL fun, safe and easy for boys and girls. Through weekly coaching sessions, they will learn the skills of the game in an exciting, social and safe environment. The Carine Junior Football Club AFL Auskick program is one of many centres that operate all over the country.

Children will learn the fundamental motor skills vital for future physical activity and sport participation as well as learning how to interact with other children as part of a team in small group activities. The program also provides a great opportunity for parents to interact with their kids through the activities, have the opportunity to make new friends, learn about the game and spend quality time with their children.

Who can play Auskick?

Auskick is open to all children from Pre-Primary to Year 2.  Once players reach Year 3 at school, they move into Juniors, with modified rules, and play against teams from other clubs.  The Youth competition commences from Year 7 and provides a challenging platform for players to develop and enhance their skills with specialist coaches and training sessions. Girls are strongly encouraged to join Auskick and have an opportunity to move through to Junior Football and play in a dedicated Junior Girls Football competition on Friday evenings.

We hope that our Auskickers will grow up with the Carine Junior Football Club - in fact, many well known AFL and WAFL players gained their foundation in footy with our Club.

Auskick registration fees

The registration fee of $200 for Auskick includes:

  • a backpack with goodies from NAB AFL;

  • Carine Junior Football Club Auskick t-shirt;

  • team photo;

  • end-of-season trophy; and

  • 15 weeks of coaching and match practice supported by the Club's dedicated coaches and volunteers.

What do the kids wear to Auskick?

At Carine Junior Football Club, we like the players to wear their Auskick t-shirt or jumper of their favourite footy team.  We will have Club shorts and socks available for purchase from our supplier in the New Year but they’re not compulsory - regular footy socks and shorts are OK too.

How to register

Registrations for 2025 are open now. Click here or on the graphic above to be taken to the online registration portal.

Financial assistance - KidSport

KidSport makes it possible for children to participate in community sports and recreation, no matter their financial circumstances. Eligible families with children aged 5-18 years should apply online through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries prior to registration.

Team Allocation

Our Auskick Coordinator will communicate directly with parents of all registered players by email in the lead-up to the season commencing. On the first morning of the season, we will meet as a big group to launch the season. You’ll pick up your Club t-shirt, meet other parents and find out which group you are in. We endeavour to place new Auskickers in a group with some children from the same school. Returning players should expect some movement between groups to facilitate friendships with new parents and players.

What to expect on Sunday mornings

NEW VENUE - EGLINGTON AINTREE RESERVE, HAMERSLEY

All games are played at Eglington Aintree Reserve, Hamersely, on Sunday mornings. Players are required to be at the oval 15 minutes early. The Auskick session starts at 8.30 am (parents, please kick and hand pass the footy to your child/children before the session begins - your coach will have plenty of footballs available).

Parents

Parents are the driving force behind Auskick and Carine Junior Football Club encourages parents to participate each weekend - previous AFL experience is not required!  Your coach will ask you to start kicking and handballing the footy with your son/daughter when you arrive at the ground.  A roster for washing team jumpers, goal post set up and return, timing, umpiring and oranges will be coordinated by your team manager.

Are you able to help out?

Many hands make light work. Parents are expected to be involved on a Sunday morning with their children. Let us know how you can assist via the registration form, or contact the Auskick Coordinator, Nat Stringer 0402 417 043, or auskick@carinefooty.com.au. Want to know more about how Auskick works? There are heaps of resources on the NAB AFL Auskick page.

Interested in sponsoring the Club?

Financial support from our sponsors is critical to maintaining the quality of the equipment and facilities used by all of our players.  Find out more about sponsorship opportunities on our Sponsorship page.

Snags and coffee

The Club runs a fundraising BBQ at Eglington Aintree Reserve every Sunday morning, with egg and bacon rolls and sausages in a bun.  Coffee/tea, muffins and cookies are also available from a coffee van, with part proceeds returned to the Club.

Social events for parents

With our main home at the Carine Clubrooms on Beach Road and hall facilities at Eglington Aintree Reserve, there will be lots of opportunities for social events throughout 2025.  We like to bring players and parents from Pre-Primary through to Year 12 together as often as possible and we have lots planned for the season. Please contact Mel Parkinson, our president, to volunteer to help with social events. We look forward to hearing your ideas.

Player and supporter merchandise

A range of Club merchandise will be available through our online store in early 2025. Click Here
