Let there be light - and it's 100 lux too!

Over the summer, our members would have seen plenty of action at Beach Road, with new (and very tall) silver poles installed, and trenches dug for new wiring.

It’s been a long time coming, but last night saw the official ‘turning on’ of our new lighting at Beach Road. The new light towers, arranged by the City of Stirling through a Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Funds Grant, mean 100 lux on Beach Oval and we almost needed our sunglasses on, it was so bright.

Two new towers have also been installed on Lower Beach, and the work there is almost complete. While testing needs to be undertaken, we’re hopeful of 100 lux on the lower oval too, which would be a great outcome for not just junior football, but the local community (100 lux is the required standard for competitions).

City of Stirling Club Development Officer, Cameron Dall, joined our President and Committee members down at Beach Oval last night to admire the new lighting. The technicians moved around in their cherry picker, ensuring the lights were aimed properly. They went off briefly as part of the testing process and a collective 'aaagh’ was heard from Michael Farmer’s 18s as they were briefly plunged into darkness before it became bright as day again.

The Carine Junior Football Club thanks the City of Stirling for their support in securing the new lighting for Beach Road. It opens up the possibility for night games, extended training and hosting the girls football competition - all great things for our members.

The future certainly looks bright for the Carine Junior Football Club - in fact, it’s 100 lux!
