The annual Presentation Night is a night to celebrate a year of achievement and improvement and to recognise outstanding performances. Trophies are awarded for all teams Year 7 and up, with the President's Trophy awarded to the player who polls the most votes in the Club. On this night, the Phil Cousins Award is also presented to the Carine Junior Football Club Volunteer of the Year and players achieving the milestones of 50, 100 and 150 games are presented with medals.
On Sunday 15 September 2019, we welcomed players, parents, Life Members and sponsors of our Club to the Warwick Hockey Centre for our annual Presentation Night.
We were so pleased that a significant number of Life Members could join us this year, including Phil Cousins, Barry Dedman, Ken Rankin, Andrew Eales, Geoff Hampton and Fred Davenport along with Brendon Jarvis, representing the Hamersley Carine Amateur Football Club and key sponsors. Club mascot Bluey also joined us for the early part of the evening to greet all our parents and players.
Communications Officer Ann Lord hosted the evening, and introduced President Brad Hearn to commence proceedings, presenting game day guernseys to the 2018 Year 7 Cougars and Year 8 Cats, who had won premierships in that year. Medals were then presented to our 50 and 100 game players, followed by the President’s address to share the highlights of the season. The Carine Junior Football Club were runner up premiers in Year 8 and Year 9, and while we didn’t walk away with the ‘win’ in 2019, membership numbers in every age group are healthy and the Club is strong. Being a finalist in three categories for the ClubsWA Awards (Marketing, Club of the Year and Most Improved Club) and winner of the Most Improved Small Club of the Year was a significant achievement for the Carine Junior Club and recognition of the power of volunteering.
Finalists for the Carine Junior Football Club Volunteer of the Year Award, named after Life Member, Phil Cousins included first year Auskick Coordinator Mel Parkinson and Merchandise Coordinator Jan Cater with the very worthy winner being Communications Officer Ann Lord.
From there, it was all about the players, with the coach of each team providing a summary of the season, thanking the many parents and volunteers that contribute to the success of each team, and presenting awards. Coaches Chris Murphy, Year 8 Cats and Brett Wills, Year 9 Cats were also pleased to present their Runner Up Premiers pennant to President Brad Hearn, having played in grand final games earlier in the day. Year 10 Trip Group Coordinator Luke Richardson, also presented Brad with the perpetual trophy from the game against Greensborough as part of the Melbourne Trip earlier this year and a big ‘thank you’ to Kim Harrison, who had undertaken much of the coordination to make the trip the success it was in 2019.
Brendon Jarvis, on behalf of the Hamersley Carine Amateur Football Club presented an award to Corey Bellouard as the 18s player who polled the most votes for the Club. A new award was also presented by Michael Farmer, 18s coach - the Golden Jumper, to be known henceforth as the Alan Thomas Award. Michael presented the award to Izaac French, who has displayed the attributes of service and commitment to his team and Club; qualities embodied by our most recent Life Member, Alan Thomas.
The President’s Trophy, awarded to the player who polls the most votes overall, went to Jay Neindorf, Year 8 Cougars.
