2022 Year 10 preseason team building and July trip - express interest now

It is tradition that our Year 10 playing group (and parent chaperones) have the opportunity for a 'development trip', historically to Melbourne in the first week of the July school holidays.

Fundraising began in earnest from July last year with many parents and players cooking sausages and making coffee on a Sunday at Auskick (Monyash Reserve) and/or at Beach Oval. Other fundraising activities included meat raffles, Bunnings BBQ, chocolate sales and more.

With the 2020 and 2021 trip groups impacted upon by COVID and a rapidly changing landscape in Western Australia, a week-long trip to Melbourne has been ‘touch and go’ in terms of planning.

The Trip Group Subcommittee has considered a range of options put forward by parents and players and now seek expressions of interest for the following:

2022 Trip Group Proposal

  1. A team building day at Rottnest for ALL registered Year 10 parents and players - Sunday 24 April 2022 (funded by the Trip Group)

  2. A long weekend to Melbourne in the July school holidays, on Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July (funded through volunteer hours in the canteen, etc)

Volunteer hours accrued and deposits paid in season 2021 remain for those families.

Proposed team building day at Rottnest

  • Depart Hillarys 7.30am

  • Bakery breakfast

  • Rotto Amazing Race (working in small teams together with tasks to complete)

  • Lunch and swim

  • Scratch match/training on Rotto (use of Rotto football oval, within team, or mix parents/players)

  • Free time

  • Depart Rotto 4.30pm

  • Dinner at Hillarys or return to Clubrooms and join proposed season opener event

The Trip Group will fund one player and one parent plus bike hire (through Hillarys Fast Ferries).
Other family members are welcome to attend but they will need to book and pay for themselves.

Melbourne trip in July school holidays

Current proposal would be to fly to Melbourne early Friday 8 July, attend football games on Friday and Saturday evening, tour the MCG, connect with one of the AFL Clubs and maybe even connect with a former Carine player. It will be a jam-packed couple of days with a return to Perth on Sunday 10 July.

Parents of registered Year 10 boys are now asked to express interest in the planned events for 2022.
