Round 3 was Mother's Day weekend and time to celebrate our Mums and everything they do for us. While we like to think all the jobs around the house are shared equally, it's often Mum that takes on the responsibility for ferrying the kids to and from training, washing those stinky socks and jumpers, cutting up the oranges, helping to find the lost mouthguard/boot/drink bottle, etc and putting a meal on the table.
On Sunday, the Auskick mums all put their best foot forward in the traditional goal kicking competition. Every year, Mums compete for the coveted box of chocolates and we heard there was plenty of action reminiscent of the AFL Women's competition earlier this year.
For the Modifieds, Opens and Girls teams, each team received a box of gorgeous mini cupcakes and the kids distributed them at the end of each game.
Year 5 Cougars ran through a special banner made by one of the Dads (yes, well done Richard) and all the boys gave their mums, grandmas and aunties a bunch of chrysanthemums each (to go with their cupcake).
We also spied plenty of aunties and grandmas at the games over the weekend, one in particular being spoilt with a very comfy chair. Well done!
Thanks to all the parents who submitted photos by email or social media this week. We have loved seeing images of you with your Carine Junior Football Club player and we've put a selection up for you all to see (click on each one to enlarge). Play of the week really does have to go to Year 12 Jack Mayo though, who managed to get his piece about mum Alica, in the Sunday Times. Great work Jack and a wonderful tribute to this Mum with a household of boys.
Dads, we love you too of course. You'll get your special day later on this season, but in the meantime, thanks Mum - we love you.
