We're turning PINK for the Mother's Day Round

Each day this year, more than 50 Australians will be told they have breast cancer – over 19,000 people in 2019. It is expected 164 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and many are also affected through the diagnosis of a partner, mother or friend. Being told you have breast cancer changes lives in an instant and has a ripple effect through families, workplaces, sporting clubs and the community. This one's pretty close to home for us here at Carine Junior Football Club, so we thought we could do something to show our support.

We are hosting a PLAY4BCNA Pink Sports Day on Mother's Day and would love everyone in our Club to get involved, either on the field or on the sidelines! Hosting this event on Mother's Day is also our way to say 'Thanks Mum' and acknowledge the important role women play in grassroots sport.

Here's what happening and what you can do to get involved:

AUSKICK

  1. Parents and players - wear as much pink as you can (spray your hair pink if you wish).

  2. If you have a pink footy, please bring it with you on the day.

  3. Donate a gold coin (or anything you can spare) to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) - you can give to your team manager or look for the volunteers coming around with the tin.

  4. Purchase some Baker's Delight FUN BUNS from the Trip Group BBQ ($1.20 each or $6 for a pack of six - 100% goes to the BCNA).

  5. Come and join us at the Clubrooms on Beach Road between 8.00 and 5.00pm - it's an ALL DAY MORNING TEA for a gold coin coffee and pink cakes.

  6. Look out for the Trip Group selling tickets for the Mother's Day hamper.

  7. Mums, join in the 'half time' Mother's Day kicking competition.

  8. Take a photo of your player with his/her mum (and/or grandma) and tag us on Instagram @carinejfc.

  1. Boys and girls, wear a pink hair tie, head band or grab a pink arm band from your team manager on the day.
