The relationship between Carine Junior Football Club and Melbourne's Greensborough Junior Football Club is steeped in history.
In 2017, our Year 10 Melbourne Trip Group played a match against Greensborough and on Friday 6 April we welcomed them to Perth to play a twilight game against our Year 11 team. The game started at 4.30pm and was followed by a social event at the Clubrooms for all players and parents, Life Members and supporters. Speaking of Life Members, we were so pleased to have a number of them join us on Friday evening - Barry Dedman, Phil Cousins, Fred Davenport, Ken Rankin, Craig Dalton and Alan Thomas.
The game was played in great spirits and while the result on the scoreboard was definitely in Greensborough's favour (14.6 to 1.3) , it didn't necessarily reflect the contest on the ground.
It was wonderful to have Life Members Phil Cousins and Ken Rankin talk a little about Lew Hall, and present the Lew Hall Memorial Shield to Mitch Ramsay from Greensborough for best on ground for both teams. Mitch is certainly in good company, as the 2007 inaugrual winner was Dion Prestia, who now plays for Richmond.
It was a pleasure having John Waugh, President, Greensborough Junior Football Club, together with their group of parents and players join us not only for the football, but the social event afterwards. Our own 2019 Melbourne Trip Group worked the BBQ hard, catering for our guests and members of the Club that joined us for the evening. Jarrod and Alma from You & Me Acoustic Duo (and Carine Junior Football Club parents) entertained the crowd and special thanks to social events coordinator Luke Richardson and other members of the committee and helpers for a great night.

Thank you Kathy King for the amazing images of the boys playing during the game (a much better sports photographer than your Club's communications officer).
