If you've been in the vicinity of Beach Road in recent weeks you will have noticed the fence has come down and there has been a flurry of activity around the clubrooms - it's certainly not far away now and we can't wait to get inside.
A brand new community facility, our clubrooms has an east and a west side, with the footy side logically being on the eastern side, facing the playing area. A number of local clubs will have access to the space over summer and winter and the local community will be able to hire the venue, so it's truly a local community space. At the Beach Road or northern end, we have terrfic storage and I'm sure all the local clubs will look forward to getting rid of the unsightly sea containers that have been gracing the grounds for a couple of years now. The northern end also contains changing rooms and toilet facilities and you'll see that a drink fountain is already operational on the outside of the building.
The southern end contains a canteen and some internal spaces, with the east and west sides a mirror image of each other. The internal areas can be made smaller to accommodate meetings and we look forward to putting our club memorabilia on display.
So, where are we at?
While the clubrooms are at practical completion, you will have seen that work is still being conducted. Turf has been laid on the eastern side, landscaping is currently underway as is some touch up painting. The clubrooms require furnishing and we are working with the other local clubs and the City of Stirling to ensure we're able to access the building as soon as possible.
We anticipate holding a number of events in our new clubrooms before the end of the calendar year; our Annual General Meeting and an opening function and look forward to bring you more information in the near future. It's been a couple of seasons in the making but we are confident these brand new facilities will be worth the wait, providing us with a bricks and mortar home for our Carine Junior Football Club family.
