Why I like Carine Junior Football Club

In order to earn his next Cub Scout badge, your Communication Officer's son needed to write an article for a newsletter or similar. I handed over the pen for this blogpost - perhaps he will become my subeditor next season?

My name is Emerson and I’ve been playing with Carine Junior Football club for six years.

Playing football here has been a great experience. I’ve learned football skills, made great friends, but most importantly I’ve had some fun. And, now that we have the new clubrooms, the club will be even better than it already was.

When I started playing footy I was five years old and played Auskick. I remember getting a bag and a hat. I know these products are durable because I still have them today!

The club really tries hard to have the best and most enjoyable team you can have. When you first start playing footy, the club tries to make sure you are playing with people that you know. You’ll also make new friends as you grow.

It is important that you should have a go at every position, but my favourite position is full-back because you get to have the moment of preventing the other team from getting a goal.

One highlight from this year was when I got to play in the Year 6’s game. After the Year 5 Derby game which was really fun, a few of us got chosen to play in the Year 6 game. I was nervous because I’m not that big, but somehow, with the help of Giarn and Finns, I scored a goal.

I’d recommend going to Carine Junior Football Club to anyone who wants to learn football and have fun.
